Happiness Is The Road
The wind picked up in the night and was howling around the camper and swaying us about a bit. The lake had gone from like glass to very choppy. By the morning the wind had gone but the weather had changed. The blue sky had gone and it was noticeably cooler. The check out time at this site was 11 as opposed to the normal time of 10. As this was the case we had a very leisurely breakfast before hitting the road. We didn't stay on the road for long as our journey today was only 14 kilometres further up the coast. We had noticed that there was a campground at a place called Congo in the Eurobodalla National Park. I just had to go to the Australian Congo and check out whether there was any Umbongo! Congo itself was a tiny little town and we followed the road through to the campground. It was a lovely site just set back from the beach and it was very quiet. There were no showers here, only toilets but they were very clean. The sign said to choose a spot and that the money would be collected by the site caretaker later on, so we did just that. It was quite chilly today but we weren't bothered as it was nice to have a day to cool down. We chilled out as we love doing and had a walk along the beach and over the rocks. Later on the caretaker, a lovely lady called Kerri, called by to collect our camp fees. She was very friendly and lovely to talk to. We had a nice relaxed tea and went to sleep to the sound of the ocean. What a beautiful sound. Even without any Umbongo the Congo was certainly beating our drums.
