Happiness Is The Road
We only managed to get a bit of sleep because of the heat and the noise. We had breakfast and then went to explore Canberra. We checked the bus stop outside and discovered that no buses ran at the weekend. We decided to walk in as it wasn't really that far and the exercise would be good. It took us just under an hour to get to the lake and the Parliament Zone. The lake is huge with a 35 kilometre shore. We walked just a short distance of it until we came to the National Gallery of Australia. We had a mooch around the outside at the sculpture garden and found amongst other things a small recreation of the Angel of the North. We then had a mooch along past the High Court and the National Library. This place was too corporate for us and lacking in anything of much interest to us. There were pretentious looking people all over the place, it just wasn't our sort of thing but it had to be done. It wouldn't have been right to have been round Australia without doing this. We then had a look over at the old Parliament House. It was bright white and resembled the White House in the USA. The new Parliament House could be seen on the hill behind it. This was the place where laws are made to restrict peoples freedom and impose tax upon unfair tax to pay for unnecessary wars and other pointless things. This is where the Australian system of a down is orchestrated from. The 'sheep' of Australia are servants to the political and corporate idiots that thrive in this evil place. We then walked away from the Parliament Zone over the bridge and around the lake to the National Museum of Australia. On the way we stopped at a lakeside cafe and had some lunch. Melbourne at the weekend had been buzzing and vibrant. This place was dead of atmosphere. The museum though was brilliant. It was fascinating and very interesting and told the history of Australia. By now we were both shattered. We got the free city loop bus from the museum back to the new Parliament House. On the way the bus stopped for about twenty minutes in Civic which is essentially the city centre. There was nothing going on here. We got off the bus at the new Parliament House and had a walk around the outside of it. We couldn't bear to think about all the nonsense that was decided in this place. All those politicians full of ****. We had to walk back from here and we trudged off in the direction of the sink estate. After an hour of walking through a Milton Keynes like landscape we arrived back at the camper thoroughly exhausted. The common peasants of Canberra were out in force swarming around the barbecue area like flies to ****. The thud thud thud of the music made us put our fan on again. It was that really annoying thud where you can't make out the tune. Just as well really as it was probably Push It by Salt 'N' Pepa again! We couldn't wait to get out of this place tomorrow.
