Today I decided to take it fairly easy and just have a bit of a wonder around the area where I was staying (just outside of city). I walked around and observed: many many old people (90+) walking around, absolutely no rubbish, no graffiti, no kids wagging school - the whole system in Taiwan is incredible in that it is structured in such a way to encourage a strong and united society. You get the feeling everyone acts for not only the good of themselves but the good of others, for example: at the schools there are no cleaners the kids come early and clean the school (so why would they vandalize it??) the kids serve the food (so why would they make a mess??) they are doing a lot of the right things in Taiwan and it is important we notice this and try engrain similar values in our society. After lunch I went for a big walk into the city to have a look for some new thongs. I came back to the house late in the afternoon where I met Rebecca and Julie and we headed off to one of the biggest night markets in Taiwan. The night market was huge but luckily well spread out and nowhere near as hectic as Taipei's night markets. We tried various fruit juices, more chickens feet, porks blood, Tomatos stuffed with dried olives, porks blood cake, duck necks and a number of other strange dishes. It is such a nice, social and fun thing to do here in Taiwan as opposed to drinking people just go out and eat - sample different foods and enjoy each others company. If you hadn't noticed I am falling in love with this place more and more each day and could possibly in-vision myself working and living here one day.
