Fish Tacos!! I have been in the coastal town of Puerto Vallarta now for 6 days and I still haven't tried the local fish; so today's mission: Fish tacos. After a sleep-in I went on search of the local fishmonger and with his recommendation brought two different types of fish; Dorado and some other deep sea fish with white flesh. I decided it was better to buy the fish and cook it myself and know I was getting the best quality. The fish wasn't cheap (Mexican standard) at about $12 a kilo but I havnt treated myself to good fish in a long time so I could warrant it. I basically fried the thick fillets (light salt and flour dusting) in a little oil and margarine - 5 minutes either side and added some sesame seeds for a little crunch. I heated up the tortillas added fresh avocado, tomato and cilantro and wow what a feast. The fish was mouthwatering and delicious and by far the best fish I have eaten in all my travels - sure worth buying the best. The afternoon was a little overcast but perfect for a stroll along the broadwalk and some people watching. In the evening two new surfers (Spanish couple) arrived and we had a really nice chat about travels etc. Turns out the Spanish couple had been living and working in NZ and Australia and told me the most wonderful things about it that I must say had me inspired for Australia travels one day. Gaby arrived late and was going out to meet some of her friends for drinks but as it was already 11pm I decided not to join them.
