Guadalajara!! Up early and ready for a new city and thankfully its only 5.5 hours away on the bus. After a quick breakfast, thanking Gaby and saying goodbye I was off to try get a bus to the terminal (which like always is well out of the city). I managed to get a bus with not to much trouble but was still a bit skeptical if I would make it; luckily another guy onboard the bus had to also go to terminal and told me when I needed to get off. Just as I arrived at the terminal the bus was about to leave and luckily the driver stopped and waited for me to buy a ticket. The bus company was called Vallartaplus and the bus is about the nicest bus I have been on but incredibly expensive at over $40 for a 5 hour ride. We were given a little lunch pack, on board wifi, tablet screening movies/games/etc, extra leg room and male/female toilets. So with a new level of comfort that I am certainly not used to; the trip was over very quickly and I would have been happy to stay onboard another 5 hours. Working out where I needed to go in Guadalajara was a bit of a nightmare but after a few hours of stuffing around I was finally on a local bus to my host Priscas house. Prisca was at work but had kindly left the keys under the mat so I could let myself in - unfortunately she had a tricky door to open and it took me 45 frustrating minutes to get in. Prisca and her absolutely adorable little girl Loretta arrived and both greeted me with smiles and hugs. What would I do without couchsurfing!!?? We chatted a while and I got to play a little with Loretta before heading to the supermarket for some fruit and vegetable. The neighborhood is beautiful and feels very safe - strange for Guadalajara as it has a reputation for being very dangerous. The evening was spent chatting and hanging out with my new hosts and learning a little bit more about Mexico.
