Road to Copan!! The ferry left Utila at 6:20am which meant a very early start and a rushed walk down to the departure jetty. I managed to sleep on the ferry which was nice and awoke just as we were arriving back to La Ceiba. From La Ceiba I jumped in a share taxi and headed for the bus station; at the bus station I found a bus that was headed to San Pedro and from here I could take an onwards bus to Copan. Luckily the bus was just about to leave and I was able to purchase a ticket for the second bus from San Pedro to Copan. The bus was very rough and the driver an absolute lunatic and to be honest a few times I woke (tried to sleep) thinking we were going to have an accident. About two hours into our journey there was a huge breaking sound under where I was sitting and the bus slowed to a crawl. The driver and helper got out and started jacking up the side of the bus and from what I could see there was a broken drive rod - amazingly within 1 hour they managed to fix it and we were off again. We wouldn't of been driving another 30 minutes before the bus slowed again and there was a bunch of commotion on the side of the road; I looked out the window and wished I hadn't. Laying in the middle of the road was a guy with a huge whole straight through his head and his motorcycle 20 meters away (sorry for graphics) it was an incredibly disturbing image; one in which I wish I could unsee. The scary thing was that the wound looked more like a bullet hole and the fact that no one had covered body up - there were children looking at the body which I am sure will scar them for life. After seeing the accident I couldn't sleep anymore and felt sick to the stomach - not good seen as I already have a sick stomach. We arrived to San Pedro Sula and I was so happy to be off the horrible bus. As it was already 1pm we had to head straight to the office and wait for our connecting bus to arrive. The connecting bus arrived, i boarded and I was off on the last 4 hour leg of the journey. This bus was much nicer and the scenery through the mountains was beautiful making for a much more pleasant bus ride. Arriving in Copan I was met by a guy trying to sell his hostel beds and so I followed him to his hostel and checked it out; it wasn't so nice so instead I went off in search of another hostel I had heard about. I arrived at Berakah hostel and to my surprise who should be there: Cris and Even who I had done my dive course with. The hostel was cheap and not to bad, there were a few small issues but all in all for $6 a night I couldn't complain. It was already late when I arrived so I headed to supermarket and walked around the centre looking for something for dinner. The town was dead as it was a Sunday evening so I brought some packet chicken soup and headed back to hostel to cook it. In the evening I hungout with a Norwegian girl an Argentinian guy and Cris and Even. Luckily there was a little kitchen but I had to wait ages as Even was using both cook tops and didn't understand the concept of a share kitchen. The chicken soup tasted good but after 30 minutes made me feel sick again. I am completely over this tired and sick feeling and after talking to my Mother I am sure I have some kind of bug that I need to get sorted out.
