Fiesta Fiesta!! Today is the day before Guatemalan Independence Day and so there is a bunch of things happening in the city. When I woke up Rafa had already headed out to take some photos so I took it easy and then headed out myself mid-morning. The atmosphere was chaotic with kids and big groups of people running around with fire torches (part of the Independence Day celebrations). I had a few things to do so I ran around doing everything I could and then headed back to the house around 1:30pm. In the afternoon it rained a lot so we waited for a break and once again headed to the city to take some more photos: Rafa taught me a bunch more things about photography and getting the best shots which is inspiring to say the least. Around the main plaza all the school bands were marching and practicing their performances for tommorow when a winning school will be crowned. 1000s of people lined the streets to watch the parade practice and the music and the smashing of the drums sent shivers down my spine. The rain eventually proved to annoying so we headed back to the house just before dark in the hope that tommorrow morning we will get some luck with the weather.
