Prauge was fantastic - I could stay here another week and still not be out of things to do and see.
The first day we stayed at "Central Europe's Largest Waterpark" and hotel. He had a fantastic time, though there were very few people who spoke English. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast, which was the first time we've had a genuine good meal. While there Brenton saw his first full on nekkid lady on accident. It scared him because she was old and he wasn't sure exactly what he was looking at. :) We also took a brief run through the sauna before they closed - sitting in but a towel and enjoying the heat. Ohhhh... I totally forgot about the shower on the way in. They make everyone strip butt naked at take a shower before going in the park. Brenton took one look at all the guys and kids in the communal shower and got really stressed. But like a trooper, he stripped down, rinsed off, and went on in.
The next day we stayed up late and got to know the hostel staff. We had a great time playing blackjack and getting advice for the city. The operator had a little dog and Brenton had a new best friend that he looked for (and didn't find) the rest of our time there. We walked around 4 or 5 miles to the city from our hostel, passing through a flea market on the way. Brenton found a pair of sunglasses he liked and I negotiated them down from $25 to $15. I'm sure they were $5 specials, but he liked the haggling. I picked up a butterlfy knife at the table there and promptly sliced two of my fingers. How funny, because I was just lecturing Brenton about touching the knives, brass knuckles, and other weapons on the table!
Prauge is supposed to be the scariest city in the world, and we found a ghost tour that was listed as one of the top 10 in the world, so we found our thing to do that night. The guide had a bit of a thick accent, but she did spin some good tales. A nice touch was she had a companion that would jump out at us to scare the group. Brenton thought it was cheesy and not scary, but I liked it!
Our next day there we took a free walking tour of the city. This involves around 4 hours of walking and it gives a good overview of the city. We had a fantastic guide who help make the history come alive. (Defenistration, oh my!)
Since we loved the free tour, we decided to go back and take the castle tour the next day. It was a bit slower pace and not as enjoyable, but we learned a bit more about the history and WWII and such. Afterwards we went to a cafe up on a hill with the tour guide and met up with the other tour guides from the company. We had some great conversation and then headed off to a restaraunt so they could eat dinner. At that point we parted ways, and Brenton stiffled a sniffle since he wouldn't see his new friends again.
Prauge is very beautiful and though it is touristy it was still welcoming and enjoyable. There was great people watching, though not as good as Paris. I'd definately say it was more real and had nicer folks, though not nearly as many who spoke english.
Onward to Munich for some sausages and beer!
