GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODD MOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRNNNNNNINNNNNGGGGGG
VIETNAMMMMMMMMMMMM!!
And a happy 2010 to everyone, we hope you all enjoyed yourselves over the festive period and its not all too depressing returning to work.
As you have guessed we have arrived in Vietnam after seeing 2010 in under the pertronas towers in Kuala Lumpur, we had a romantic meal at a restaurant that served some outstanding fish and chips , something we hadn't had for yonks. We saw a spectacular fireworks display at the stroke of midnight and had a quick snog to celebrate.
We flew out to Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon) on the 2nd, arriving at the airport with no local cash as we could get it anywhere. So to the cash machine we go where it only produced one note worth 500,000 Dong, which is a bout 8 quid. So armed with our one note we headed for the airport bus to the city, with the tickets costing just 12,000 dong, already we were stumped as no one would change our half million note. However, two youn g and very kind Chinese people paid for us (we weren't begging) and didn't even want any dollars in return, we felt this was fate for all the rude people we had approached in China, this lovely young couple salvagedour thoughtsof their nation.
We arrived late i n to the evening, so we ate some very cheap and very good noodles and headed to bed. The following day we picked up some travel buddies, our friends from home (in tut north) Rachel and Joe, who we are now going to travel with to the north of Viet nam, so hopefully things will be safer, cheaper and more entertaining. I just hope they know what they are letting themselves in for, Amy's Farts, my great humour, Amy's belches, my charm, Amy's farts as well as my permanent happy nature even when tired! But we have now been together two days and so far Amy's hasn't released much gas from her bum and I haven 't been that funny!
We went to the Mekong Delta yesterday, visiting various islands on the river, seeing the sights, and once again like so many times on our travels we had a comedy tour guide. She sang all the time, often breaking glass and our eardrums, but a good day that cost next to nothing to do. Today we heaed to the Cu Ci tunnels, these were used by the Vietnamese during the war, and I couldn't fit! but Joe and Amy got on there hands and pulled there way through, once again another singing tour guide, except this one had a guitar, and could sing relatively well.
Vietnam is great so far, like Cambodia we don't want to drop our guard as we have heard some mixed reviews, but now there is four of us we will definately have saftey in numbers (touch wood).
The great news also is Rachel and Joe are travelling with us to and through Thailand, so someone to celebrate my birthday with (24th of Jan, when you can send the messages of love, please e-mail for bank account details for presents, all major credit cards accepted, presents over 5o quid only )
Of to the coast via bus, which I have heard is worse than sitting on a rollacoaster for hours in the sahara, and thats all the way to Han Oi
until next time
