It's been a while since we last updated you but we thought we would all let you recover from Christmas. We hope you all had a great time.
We arrived in Kuala Lumpur Christmas Eve after a brilliant 3 weeks in Cambodia, not feeling too Christmassy mainly due to the heat and lack of mince pies we headed to the the hotel that Amy's Mum and Dad had kindly booked for us. We were due to meet them later in the day , so with our huge rucksacs on our back and dressed like typical travellers we walked through the foyer of The 5 star Grand Millenium Hotel, we went to check in only to be sent elsewhere . Now I thought they were just fobbing us off as we didn't look the part but to our surprise and delight Amy's Dad had booked us in to the executive suites, which basically means our own lounge with breakfast and evening drinks (plus more food) Suddenly it started to feel like Chrismas , especially when afew hours later we met some familiar faces being Amy's parents.
We had four days with the out-laws and they thoroughly spoilt us , Amy and I managed to get some great nights sleep on the best bed we have slept on since we left as well as have the best shower too. I would generally be very greedy and have far too much of the free food served in the lounge, where as we would all enjoy afew drinks, easily polishing off a bottle of gin and a couple of bottles of white wine.
Christmas day we headed out in a corrupt taxi! to a restaurant where we had a reservation for Christmas dinner, the food was excellent and fortunately Gary wasn't feeling too well. I say fortuantely because I finished his main course and dessert, which being as greedy as ever I still managed to fit in some afternoon snacks.
Gary did get better and can now confirm that Jack Daniels and coke cures loose bowl movements.
We also managed to find a lovely restaurant serving typical Malaysian food, which was a great recommendation from some people we met, we ate there most eveninging as the food and service was so good. Plus they always were accomodating as we ordered most the menu.
Christmas seemed to go so quickly, we even headed out for the day to Genting highlands, a lovely trip but an ageing beast that is a resort including a casino, theme park and hotels up in the mountains. Overal we had a great time over christmas and it was sad to see Gary and Jenny go. All of a sudden we had our bags on our backs again and we walked away from the Grand Millenium on to the monorail to go to our hostel. Reality well and truly hit us when we arrived, but the hostel is clean and comfortable. Amy and I headed out yesterday , walking past the hotel we stayed at over Christmas, we wanted to cry histerically at not being there any more but we pulled through and we were strong.
Our plans for the rest of KL are to just stay in our room and spend no money, however we have been shopping already and we are going to see Avatar in 3D tonight. The Petronas towers tomorrow morning with a romantic meal for two planned for NYE.
We go to Vietnam on the 2nd of January and travel south to north over 19 days. We can't wait.
Until we blog you again happy new year and we miss you all so some messages would be nice
Good bye
