G'd day Mate.............ya flammin Gala..............stick another shrimp on the barbie..............and our favourite, you stupid Pomes!! Thats right , we have made it down under and are currently located in the library in Melbourne, so please be quiet!!
We left you last time to go and wash our under wear from all the exciting activities we undertook in Queenstown. Since then we took our time to drive down to the East coast of NZ to Dunedin, where we arrived too early for the accomodation kindly organised by Dad Pullin, as we had to make head way for Christchurch. Unfortunetly as the budget for NZ had expanded more than our fathers waist lines (both of you), we stayed in Christchurch for our last evening to get an earlier flight to Oz.
We spent our last day in Christchurch with our friends from Fiji, walking around the shops we stumbled across the one thing that Justin said he wanted to find whilst we were in New Zealand, but hadn't seen any as they are very few and far between........A Maori tattooist. For those of you who don't know a Maori is an indigenous person of NZ and their tattoo's are a large part of their culture, where each tattoo is individual depending on the meaning intended. After much hesitation (justin was picking up on my 'I hate tattoos' vibe) Justin decided to get one firstly drawn on his foot (easily hidden when needs must), the Maori tribesman depicted all of the things important to Justin (family friends, health etc) Approved by me and our friends Justin went ahead with it, looking very uncomfortable and pale in the process! The final result is actually surprising. Not only is it unique and discreet, but I like it, and hopefully so does Justin, if not it's too bloddy late now!!!(but he does like it really. Justin's next tattoo is going to run down the centre of his chest 'I love Amy forever' inside a heart, I think this is so sweet and it has my approval. ONLY JOKING!! (Sorry Mum for another heart in mouth moment)
We caught a very early flight to Melbourne, meaning that we spent the evening at the Christchurch airport, curled up in our sleeping bags, some strange looks, but when we woke up about 25 other travellers had the same idea and we were surrounded by sleeping bodies. Amy and I were expecting some glorious sunny weather, so clothed in our best speedos and bikini slapping on factor 50 on the plane we arrived to rain and more cold weather.................boooooo!!! But it didn't put us off, we put on some more layers and wipped off the sun block from our noses. After setting down our luggage we immediately set out to explore the city, mainly going to the shopping district and catching the free tram that circulates the city centre.
Yesterday we took a day excursion to Phillip Island, on route we were taken to see a koala and feed some walabies, building up a great relationship with some Mongolians who were very keen to be in all our pictures, as well as one elderley Monoglian who follwed us everywhere, he was never further than two feet away, we named him Bruce, we really loved him!!! The best bit about the Mongolians was if you told them to do something they would do the opposite, the fed the seaguls, they took pictures of things they weren't allowed to, they touched things they weren't supposed to and their time keeping is outstanding, always 20minutes late. But the highlight of the day was seeing the penguins come in from the sea in the evening. They all waddled up the beach in qroups, making small talk amongst themselves, heading for their homes built in the grassland. one little penguin kept us entertained for a while, as it seemed to get lost a waddle round in circles, quacking away to itself. It must have forgooton to take its pills as its was alitttle crazy.
We have since just ambled around Melbourne, taking in the sights and museums, even stopping to take in a street artist, performing a comedy magic thing. Infront of a crowd of around 100, he approached 3 people from the audience to join his funny routine, and guess what, he picked on Amy. In a bright blue wig, in the middle of a busy square Amy dance, pranced and thoroughly embarassed herself, whilst I laughed on from th crowd. Of course I have some pictures and we will upload them soon.
Anyway we must go and catch our overnight bus to Canberra, where we will sit for 8 hours. We have one night there before we head to Sydney, where we hear the weather is picking up, and the tight elastic of the speedos bekons!!
Until next time, love to all Amy and Justin xxxxx
