Hello to all our blog readers out there, we now update you from sunny Bondi Beach where we are utilising free internet at every opportunity, which is mainly in McDonalds and we try and get away with not buying anything but Amy always gets tempted by something. Not me of course!!
Well we have been hanging out in Sydney the last three days, with our last day today before we get on the coach tonight for a 15 hour journey to Brisbane (will explain why we are going straight there later). The last couple of days have been taking in the sights of Sydney, going to the Opera house and Harbour bridge, which was very surreal seeing it all in the flesh. We stayed in a cool little hostel in an area called Kings Cross, known for its night life and laid back feel for travellers, so we felt right at home. Yesterday we went on a tour of the Blue Mountains, now the blue mountains were amazing, but, our tour guide unfortunately wasn't, he was a cross between Manuel from Fawlty Towers and Borat, who got on everyones nerves. The tour consisted of many treks through the forrests of the Blue Mountains, and on one particular trek Amy and I decided to choose a relatively long one which took us above a waterfall with amazing views of the valley. Manuel told us to always stay to the left of the path and come back up on the right, so with afew others we set off............And guess what, he got his left and right the wrong way round and sent us off the beaten track in to the dense forrest. We realised we went the wrong way a worked our way around to the top of the waterfall where we were only able to take it in for about 10 seconds before we had to get back on the coach. The most ironic thing was that before we set off I sarcastically joked with him that we go down on the right and up on the left!!!
So our tour guide loved the sound of his voice so much when we were driving on the coach we missed out on some major views and points of interest, he also drove like he was in the wakey races, we were not amused. Needless to say another great storey to take away with us but some money badly spent, however with 23 people on the mini bus not happy and Amy putting her legal hat on and my way with words the company will be expecting afew calls this morning! It was a long day that over run by two hours (mainly two hours of him talking), and we had the opportunity to get the ferry back from the Olympic sight under the Harbour bridge at night, it was also a fantastic opportunity to say our farewell to Manuel by not staying on the bus another 2 hours!
Anway we are finishing up at Bondi and going to chill on the beach, before we head off to the ferry where we are going to Manly beach. We get on a coach for 15 hours to Brisbane, where we are staying with an old work friend of mine who said we can stay in his flat as long as we like whilst he works away, which is an absolute result as he has 3 surf boards, a huge 4x4 and one amazing apartment in the city centre complete with swimming pool. So needless to say we will be staying there a while and using the car to back track to Byron Bay.
Well until our next storey we bid you farewell.
