Ho ho ho and a bucket of snow, which as we understand is the case in the UK at the moment and looks like we will be missing out on a white Christmas, but never worry we can enjoy an alternative Christmas menu before we leave Cambodia, made up of some Cambodian delights: -
Starter
Fried Tarrancula
Main
Upsidedown Tortoise with egg (their own!)
Dessert
Mars Bar
Anyway we hope everyone is well and enjoying Christmas, since the last update we have relaxed in Shinaoukville (named after the previous king) and headed back to our favourite bar/room in Phnom Pehn. On route the bus along with other traffic was pulled up by the side of the road , Amy and I thought here we go again another 10 hour journey that should only take 4, however around 200 school children showed up wavi ng Cambodian flags. To our surprise and delight a precesion of around 15 posh cars passed through, one including the king of Cambodia on his way to a meeting, although we don't know which car he was in it was still ammusing.
Then on our return to the capital we were invited by our new Cambodian friends to some Thai boxing matches that they show liv e on Cambodian televison. It was free to enter, Amy and I had a great time, as well as appearing on Cambodian national Television.
We then headed off to the airport to surprise our friends from Manchester, rachel and Joe, who have just recently started there travels, we introduced them to where we were staying and all headed off to Siem Reap the followi ng morning. It has been great to catch up with them and have some permanent company along the way.
Siem Reap is completely different to any where else in Cambodia mainly due to the money the temples bring in , and somewhere we have so far enjoyed, its far cleaner with less beggars and conmen, plus we are staying in a fantastic guest house.
We headed out 5am this morning to watch the sunrise over the main Angkor Wat Temple, and the truly are the 8th wonder of the world, our tuk tuk driver then proceeded to take us around the other temples some covered by jungle, some being peiced back together and some with absolutley beautiful detail. Joe and I were running around like India Jones whilst we all hummed the theme music to the films, a brilliant day that hasonly just seen us return.
Absolutley shattered we are resting up and decided to have a Christmas celebration tonight as well as get our dirty skin on our feet eaten by some hungry fish.
Tomorrow will be a chill day before we heaed on an early flight b ack to KL on Christmas eve.
We will send you some christmas meaages soon.
Love to you all and Merry Christmas
