Day 55 Laem Chabang, Thailand 7 hours GMT
Today is Mothering Sunday (in the UK)We decided again not to go on an organised excursion to Bangkok but paid £12 each for the shuttle that took us to Pattaya, which is a beach resort fairly close to the port of Laem Chabang. As soon as we arrived, we decided to get the next shuttle back to the ship; it wasn't the best resort I've ever been to. The beach was long and really narrow, not unlike Waikiki beach in Honolulu, but there the similarity ends. This one had a bad odour to it, all around I could smell food being cooked and probably not that hygienically. Walking along the promenade you couldn't help notice young 'women' sitting cross legged on the ground, smoking and chatting to each other, these were definitely ladies of the night, except it was broad daylight. I spotted one who was asleep on a mat and she'd written the words 'massage' on a piece of paper by her side. I thought that was hilarious and wondered who would wake her up or was she hoping someone would massage her! When we arrived back on board, we had lunch then sat outside for an hour, but at 93 degrees fahrenheit, it wasn't long before I melted and escaped to the luxury of our mini-suite. Tonight, we're having a drink party for Chris and Lin, as they're getting off in Singapore; Tim, our officer, is also coming. Then we're heading up to the Pennant Grill for alternative dining. Oh by the way, for all you people over 50 who might be reading this; we saw The Batchelors the other night, they're currently our on-board entertainment.
