Day 64 Mumbai, India - 95f PHEW!
We were expecting to take a taxi tour with Deepak our waiter today, but unfortunately he was called to work so as you can imagine we were a little disappointed. Fortunately there was still availability on one of the tours, which was a three hour panoramic snapshot of the city concluding in a local dance show. We started at the Gateway of India, which was built in 1911 to commemorate the visit of King George V, this is opposite the famous Taj Mahal Hotel which was also built around that time. We went inside to have a look around and although it was beautiful and housed many designer shops, I couldn't help thinking about all the beggars outside, including babes in arms. We were told not to make eye contact and certainly not to give anything to anybody. Give a dollar to one and you'd have a hundred around you! (Well that's what the scaremonger tour guide said). That was our only stop; all other photo opportunities were done through the coach window. All I can say is, we've been to Mumbai, don't need to go again! on board, everyone was talking about their experiences, but the person with the biggest, broadest smile on his face was Abi, our other waiter because he saw his fiancée today. We now have another 5 days at sea, but finally the weather is clear and sunny. Today, we had new dinner guests, Ian and Anne and Paul and Sue, also Carol but just until Athens. Carol is Tim's wife who is the officer who replaced Gordon.
