Hi all,
Finally decided to move on from Byron after wasting a day with my
ankle strapped up. Spent the last night with the girls from my
dorm. We took advantage of the hostel special dinner - spag bol for
$7.50.
Friday morning, I hopped on the bus at 11.45 and arrived into
surfers Paradise at 1.30. Got picked up from the bus stop by the
hostel in a limo. It was a bit battered but much more luxurious
than any other pick up i've had so far.
Hostel is ok. Girls dorm is a self contained flat. TV and oven are
luxuries these days! The only downfall is that the dorm is overrun
with Japanese. They really are the strangest people! They remind me of those girls that used to be in the Gwen Stefani videos!
Had a wander down to the beach and took a detour via the shops. Am
now the proud owner of some new shorts and a bikini -woo hoo! No more shopping though because I can hardly close my backpack. It took 3 of us in Byron bay to get everything in!
Friday night the hostel put on a barbie. It was all you can eat for
$5. Nice one. The burgers and sausages were the tesco value
equivalant but it went down a treat. Thought ahead and saved some
sausages for when I returned from the pub later!
Went to a club that night with the hostel which felt like an 18-30
hols. A girl from my dorm, Martje from Amsterdam came. she didn't
stop talking about herself ALL night! Made a mental note to avoid
her tomorrow!
Saturday I went over to my friends Kristy and steven who I met in
NZ. Was a nice, chilled out day with lunch and a movie.
They dropped me home at 6ish so I had a little disco nap before
heading out with 3 fab scottish girls who arrived into my dorm that
day (yay, the japs have left!)
Went to a few clubs for a boogie and called it an early night at 12.
The girls are heading off to Byron on Sunday and then back up to Noosa so I'll meet them there.
Sunday - A bit cloudy today so I took myself off to a
theme park - Dreamworld for some fun and thrills. It didn't
disappoint either. Lots of rollercoasters kept me entertained for a
few hours. They also had a wildlife bit with Kangaroos but I
avoided that after my last experience! They are so scary.
Spoke to my mum and dad tonight. It's mum's birthday - HAPPY
BIRTHDAY MUM! I hoped you liked my singing!! Shame I can't be with
you today but at least the old fella took you out on a date on
Saturday!!! I felt a bit homesick after talking to them (my first time in 4 weeks!)
Monday - horray, the sun is out. Made some lunch and am heading down the beach for a few hours. Was feeling brave so I put my shorts on. Flabby legs are out in full show but who cares!
Meeting Kristy and her mum later to go up the Q1 building. It's the tallest point in Surfers and has the most amazing views of the whole of the Gold Coast. Having a quiet night in (probably with another pasta special dinner!) before heading off to Brisbane on Tuesday morning.
