Monday morning nice and early, we headed back to Portstewart one last time to drop Amanda off with Brendan so she could have a lift to the airport. Following a quick coffee I headed out to Larne to meet my ferry.
Arriving in good time I pulled up alongside a guy who has a Aprilia Mille, a most lovely bike, so we started chatting about this, including it's useless stand. I always smile to myself when it comes to bikers, we can be in the middle of nowhere, then someone else on a bike will arrive, and without knowing anything about each other you can start up a great conversation as you know you share a common love for bikes.
The road from Cairnryan to Dumfries was mental, bikes, lorries and cars all jostling for position. This is only about 50 to 60 miles but took about 3 hours to ride. The road itself is fantastic, just very busy as it is the only road to the port. I can honestly say that I have never been happier to see the motorway at the end of this road. The motorway was as dull as dull could be. Occasionally blind motorists would excite me by doing their best to run me of the road by changing lanes when I was next to them. They always used to say (not that I could hear them just read their lips) "Sorry I didn't see you". I find this strange, the bike I am riding is huge, bright yellow, lights blazing, and I am sat on top, and I am no small gentleman, lets just say I am a visible shape.
Arrived home around 21:00, and I have to say my arse was in pain. So much for a 'comfort seat', after sitting there for hour after boring hour there was no comfort left, just pain.
Until the next trip. Bye
