Hi from Wellington! Well I am nearly finished with the North Island and ready to move onto the South! Arrived in Wellington on Tuesday and stopped off at a few places along the way - the Weta Caves where the props from the Lord of the Rings, King Kong etc and got up close and personal with Gollum! Was a really beautiful day and had a look around the harbour before meeting up with Martin (who I am now staying with) for a drink. Went out with my Canadian friend for our last night together and saw some pretty good live music. Spent the next day exploring Wellington. It is a pretty nice city, not masses to do but I was looking forward to chilling for a couple of days and got my hair cut (finally!). Went up on the cable car which was hilarious as you literally go up a hill and that is the entire ride. The views of Wellington were really cool and checked out the Botanical Gardens before going back down the hill. Went to Te Papa, New Zealands museum and it was really impressive with loads to see my brain got a bit overloaded. Had a wander to Oriental Bay and sat in the sand watching the crazy people swimming in the cold water! Met up with Martin after work and we walked 25mins (with my backpack) up the steepest hill to his flat. The views from the top were great and he has a really nice place. Went out for dinner and I cooked my lamb on a volcanic piece of stone - it was delicious!! It is lunctime now and I haven't left the flat yet just enjoying not being at a hostel and doing normal things. I'm going to venture out and check out the shops then meeting up with Martin after work to see some live music. I'm getting the ferry to Picton tomorrow and get back on the Stray bus - hope the driver is better than the last one. Bye for now xx
