Well I am now in Dunedin and have had an exhausting few days on the road. Left Queenstown on Thursday morning I think and had a long drive to Milford Sound. The scenery was amazing and the mountains were huge!! We arrived early evening and camped by the lake which was cool but freezing. In the morning we did a cruise around Milford and it was so beautiful. We stopped off at an underwater observatory which was so much fun as we got to see all of the fish and wildlife 10 metres under the water without getting wet! Left Milford after lunch and headed to Bluff in order to get the ferry to Stewart Island. There was absolutely nothing in Bluff but we camped there in order to get the ferry the following morning. Stewart Island was absolutely brilliant!!! We didn't see that much of the island as when we arrived we went for lunch overlooking the water and tried some gorgeous fresh oysters then started on the wine and it all went downhill from there! Had delicious blue cod and chips for dinner and then went to watch the sunset. Was so excited as it was meant to be a red sunset but it was a bit disappointing as it was too cloudy but the views from the top of the island were cool. We ended up getting invited to a man called 'Friday's 60th birthday party which was so hilarious! Made friends with all of the locals who called me CSI for the entire evening and insisted on feeding us salmon and mussels at 4am despite our efforts to escape. I was forced to spend the evening dancing with Friday (still no idea why he was called that!) but it was a really good night. Jim decided it would be a good idea for us not to get on the 8am ferry the following morning and we then couldn't get on one until 6pm! Spent a very long hungover day on the island avoiding shouts of 'CSI come and join us for a beer!' We found a really gorgeous secluded beach as it was such a lovely warm day and spent our time there. Finally got on the ferry back to Bluff and had to drive to Dunedin last night and didn't get there till 11pm!! We are off to Cadbury's World today before heading to Christchurch where we drop off the campervan tomorrow and go our seperate ways. Still have a week left in NZ and trying to decide whether to head back up north and see the bay of islands or to fly to Chile early!!
