Well hola from South America!!!! Sorry it has been so long since my last blog. I left the campervan in Christchurch on 16th and Jim and I flew to Auckland on 17th for St Patrick's Day, joining in with the festivities and samling some green wine!! I flew to Airlie Beach the following day to see Sammy the sailor!! Had the most brilliant week and ate loads and sailed in a race in a boat called 007!! Was very sad to leave but I was ready for the next adventure and flew back to Auckland arriving at 0030 on 25th March. Well 25th March has officially been the longest day in history as I boarded my flight to Santiago at 1730 that afternoon and after an 11 hour flight it was 1130am that morning - i'm still confused!!!!
I have only been here a day but I already love it and know South America is going to be great. Met a guy at the airport and we spent the day exploring the city. Had a traditional hotdog which was smothered in guacamole, cheese and tomatoes! Santiago is pretty nice as far as cities go and there are some cool parks etc. We even braved the subway! The hostel, La Casa Roja is the best hostel I have stayed at, it is in a period building with so much character and have met so many people already. I'm gutted I am only here for 5 days as there is so much to see but I have booked a 3 day tour which leaves tomorrow for the Lake District and I get to see active volcanoes, lakes, national parks etc so it will give me a good taster of what Chile had to offer! Then get an overnight bus on Saturday night and arrive back in Santiago on Sunday before flying to Buenos Aires - I am tired just thinking about it!! Have been attempting to speak Spanish which has been mostly sucessful although I have just eaten the worst meal ever as I didn't know what most of the ingredients were!! Anyway better go and be sociable, will write more from Argentina xxx
