Mama Elaine here…
Wow wow wow, what a start to the day, just when we thought yesterday could not be surpassed - it was!! I was alone at breakfast when I sighted a leopard who are not frequent visitor to this area, I was SOOO excited, by the time the others appeared bleary eyed from their slumber he had gone back into the bush. Fortune was on our side, as on leaving The Ark there he was the most beautiful sight a female leopard not more the 3 metres from us. She just sat and posed taking us all in with her black and white vision, and then nonchantly she gracefully strolled across the road in front of our vehicle to disappear into the bush, we were completely overwhelmed and no of us will forget this close encounter of the natural kind, such magniifecence.
We passed from through the Equator North to South and then shortly after arrived at Lake Nakura for lunch. Another amazing afternoon in Lake Nakura NP sighting white rhinos, zebras, cape buffalo, tree climbing lions, flamingos, egrets, pelicans, Thompsons gazelles, waterbuck, impala, spoonbills, blue ear starling, crested crane, buzzard, wow such a wonderful introduction to the amazing wildlife. Our focus turned to the five lions hanging out in the tree on a sunny Sunday afternoon, as they left laconically to rove the range for their dinner. They stealthily waited in the grasslands observing a herd of Impala, we left before we knew the outcome. Looking away from the lions to the wetland, we saw a pink cloud of flamingos landing on the lake which added to the mirage of bird life on the wetland.
On return to our lodge we watched a troupe of African dancers. A truly wonderful day made all the more special it with wonderful friends.
