Day 7 Sunday 18/08 Bruges - 20deg Sunny/cloudy

John here...spending a full day in Bruges, lazy start. Wandered around town and went into several shops and were amazed at the choices, one pub had 300 beers, cookies of all sorts, nougat and of course chocolates of which there is no shortage. We decided on a boat trip of the canals, so queued for tickets and did the tour. Just before lunch overlooking the Markt we had a fruit beer at the Historium, which was delicious and about €3, very refreshing. We had lunch at a beer pub which was great. I had Rabbit cooked in beer with prunes and croquettes, my beloved had Smoked duck breast salad and cheese croquettes and we had a peach and a strawberry beer. More pictures, more wandering, and bought a selection of cookies - fig, raspberry, citron and caramel along with some fig nougat...and then decided on a light dinner in our hotel room of fruit, cheese, pâté and biscuits. Unfortunately they had the light festival on again, so more of the same as Saturday night. The mascot for Bruges is the Bear and the little fellow is every where.
