Sunday 22nd August - Namib Naukluft Reserve to Swakopmund

Destination............Namibia's premier beach resort, Swakopmund! We continue on the track from the previous day just outside the border of the nature reserve. On to the coast passing by Namibia's highest sand dune, "Dune 7", with a short detour to Walvis Bay to admire the attractive townhouses painted in all the colours of the rainbow!

Swakopmund has been described as a little piece of Germany in Africa with German bakeries and breweries along the streets (not what you expect to see in the Africa!)

We arrive at our home for the evening and tomorrow is our day off! So we spend the next two nights at Rossmund Lodge, situated on the northern banks of the Swakop River. The Lodge is beautifully situated with 360º vistas of the fairways, desert and a backdrop of awesome sand dunes. With our evening meal in a converted tugboat on the seashore.
