Last night we left London on Emirates to Lusaka via Dubai eventually arriving at our destination at 1440 today.
We rued the loss of the BA direct flight as this journey was quite tiring so we were grateful for our overnight in the Raddison Blu before heading to Mfuwe and South Luangwa on Sunday afternoon.
As soon as we got off the plane we could feel the very hot and sticky atmosphere - there were thunderstorms and rain in the area - not least overhead as we progressed to the car taking us to the hotel. The high wind levels had caused an aborted landing by the Emirate's pilots - thankfully an approach from the opposite direction allowed a faultless landing!
Once checked in a shower and a snooze were the order of the day - indeed apart for an interlude for a yummy pizza from room service - it was a much needed sleep right through to Sunday morning!
Today's photo epitomises why we are here - to see the largest mammalian migration in the world - 10 million fruit bats who alight on Kasanka for a 2 month fruit feast!
