The day started the same as yesterday with an early swim and cup of tea before breakfast. Today I was able not only to hear but see the chacalacas in a couple of trees behind the property. We then headed to the beach just in front of the property for a day relaxing in the sun. Opposite the bay is an Islam with a house on it - now owned by the government - but it was where Ian Fleming used to stay and where he wrote the James Bond books. John says the name James ...

We were awake at 5am - at 6am I persuaded John to come and sit by the pool while I had a swim - that way he could have a cup of tea -needless to say he didn't take much persuading. After a shower we went to breakfast and prepared ourselves for a trip to Little Tobago - an island off the coast which is now a bird sanctuary. We left Asa Wright at 0630 and were at the airport by 0715 for our 0935 flight! When we checked in they asked if we wanted to go on the 0810 flight - we said yes as we could have a coffee while waiting for our transfer in Tobago. As luck would have it on arrival in Tobago when we were asked by the taxi desk if we needed a taxi and I told them who was picking us up - he phoned them and the daughter arrived early .....she was pleased as she would be able to go home...

Today after breakfast we set off on our own for a walk - we took the, up and down, adventure trail, returning on the discovery trail passing both the manakin leks - males only no females so no displays going on. I then caught up with some emails and we had a cup of tea on the veranda......while there I checked with a guide what the very blue bird I had seen on the feeder yesterday was - it was a blue grey tanager. As it was Easter Sunday the Centre was very busy ...

A free day to do what we will - or so we thought but as we were about to go on our walk we were asked if we minded visiting the oilbirds today rather than tomorrow.
