Today was a travel day and the picture was one I took from the top of mission rock and gives a feel for the topography. It doesn't however show the worlds second highest vegetated sand dune which is also a prominent feature. ( the worlds highest being Fraser Island in Australia - been there but weren't told that!)
We left at 0545 with Adam, the boat captain, who took us in his little car to the airport at Richards bay for our 0755 flight.....we departed on time and on our arrival spent several hours in Johannesburg before catching our 1530 flight to Upington. We arrived early and missed Hein, our guide, who walked past us thinking we couldn't have arrived yet. Concerned we asked a lady on the information desk to call Kalahari safaris as a result we were soon united. He then drove us into Upington and dropped us off at Le Must guest house where we were warmly welcomed. We quickly settled in and were soon having a cup of tea and eating flapjack while looking out over the river and watching the birds flying up and down as the sun slowly disappeared.
