Being in a hotel with lots of facilities I felt obliged to use them so went for a work out in the gym - pedalling away and watching the planes land and takeoff made a change. A shower, followed by a very nice a la carte breakfast was next on the list. After breakfast we walked back to the airport to shop for sundries - stamps to send off our postcards, more data allowance for my vodacom sim, a rucksack for John and importantly a nice coffee in Mug and Bean.
We then checked out of the hotel and caught the fast and efficient Gautrain to Sandton. It took about 15 minutes whereupon we took a short taxi ride to the Hilton our home for the next two nights.......thanks to my Hilton Honors points.
Our first job was to sort out the washing and see if we could find a launderette - no joy; the one place we found that did washing couldn't return it in time as Friday was a public holiday and we had to have it by late Friday. So after exploring the magnificent modern Mandela shopping centre and having a lovely meal at 'Papas on the Square' we invoked plan B i.e. we washed most of it ourselves, drying it in the bathroom and got the very efficient hotel laundry to do the rest eg slow drying socks. As the room had an iron John was in seventh heaven so the dry laundry and some of our packed items had the benefit of his ironing once over!
With most things sorted out we retired for an earlyish night.
(Today's photo is of one of the yet unknown magnificent butterflies we saw in the Congo forest.)
