A travel day so this is an opportunity to showcase another picture (the chameleon mentioned in Fridays blog) and say little unless we have other unexpected travel adventures!
We had a nice leisurely Sunday morning as we were not collected until 1130 for our hopefully 1330 flight back to the capital.
Yes - the plane arrived on schedule we left almost on schedule @1345 - one downside - on board it was boiling hot with limited air conditioning - it did get better although everyone was initially sweating profusely! However we were one of two planes that arrived in Antananarivo at the same time and our luggage was offloaded second - but despite the wait - we got it!
We opted not to take our scheduled UNESCO site visit as we are up again at 4am for an early check in tomorrow as we head north.
The capital is noticeably cooler - and more comfortable temperature wise at the moment - the trip to the hotel again gave me time to reflect on life in Madagascar - we passed the rice fields surrounded by urban sprawl - and I have noticed anywhere there is water there are children playing in it or people washing clothes in water courses -often amongst zebu cattle;as it was Sunday lots of boys were playing football on the open spaces; that is even though there is currently a national craze for rugby and a stadium is being built- why? - a political popularity ploy which has been fuelled by them recently winning an African rugby trophy. Then the darker side a young girl - extremely grubby and her toddler eating a bowl of noodles they had just been given; they were consuming them with vigour - not sure when they last ate!
