I can't believe it's finally time to leave on our Continent tour. This week seemed like it would never end- 3 papers, 3 exams, 0 fun. Once it was finally over, though, we all felt so relieved and excited that our work was finished for the rest of the semester. And while the next 5 weeks are going to be a non-stop whirlwind with barely enough time to catch our breath, we all can't wait.
Even with the lack of sleep this week, I made sure to enjoy Oxford, which has been a lovely home for the past 6 weeks. As a sort of farewell to the city, I did the following: 1) Went to Ben's Cookies, 2) Went to Blackwell's, 3) Went with a group of friends out to dinner at Wagamama (Japanese noodle bar), 4) Celebrated the end of the week by going out to Turf Tavern for a pint of Strongbow, and 5) Took a walk with the girls through Christ Church Meadows and along the Thames.
High Table dinner last night was amazing. All of our professors from both sessions were there. We ate a meal of toasted goat cheese salad; stuffed quail breast; and for dessert, warm chocolate souffle. At the end, Sally got up to thank everyone from the staff at Lincoln, to Toni, the 80-year old lady who kept Nutella and crackers for us in her office. Dr. Mitchell, our professor from History of Tudor England, gave a speech about how to survive France and Italy.
By this time tomorrow, we will be eating dinner in a restaurant in Paris. That fact has not sunk in yet.
I don't know how frequently I will have internet access over the next 5 weeks, but I am going to do my best to keep y'all updated with pictures and stories!
