We are now nearing the end of our penultimate week here at Oxford. I think almost everyone feels the same way- we have loved living here for a while and really getting to know the city, but we are ready for classes to be over and to start seeing exciting new places.
On Monday and Tuesday, St. Giles' Fair was here. I went on Monday afternoon with a couple of friends, just to look at all the rides and games they had set up. There was one tent with a bunch of arcade games, so I played a little DDR. (I totally rocked it, in case you were wondering.) Afterwards, I went to the cinema to see the new Guy Ritchie film, RocknRolla. I had told myself before I came here that I would immerse myself in the European experience. Surely I could go 3 months without going to a movie theatre. As it happens, though, I really wanted to see this movie because Gerard Butler was in it. And since it was a British movie, I created a little loophole for myself.
Other than Monday, not much has been going on this week. It's been quite rainy and cold, so we've all stayed in college for the most part. Some have been working on the papers that we have due next week. I like to live dangerously, so I have been putting those off. Last night, I got in bed early, curled up with my computer, and watched The Sound of Music before going to sleep.
Tonight we have High Table dinner, which is usually the best food we get all week. Tomorrow we are taking a bus to London, where we will visit the National Gallery and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. After that, everyone is setting off on their various trips again. I'll be coming back to Oxford on the bus Friday afternoon, maybe try to get something done on my papers, and then Saturday I'm going back to London to explore on my own.
Cheers, for now.
