The glass house mountains rise dramatically from the surrounding Sunshine Coast landscape. for many generations these mountains have held spiritual significance for Aboriginal people. Their creation stories and beliefs are reflective in strong links that remain in the Aboriginal community today. Individually the mountain peaks have traditional Aboriginal names but the Glass house mountains name was given by captain James Cook in1970.
