Camping in the trees
We spent the last two nights staying in a treehouse in a campground built up on the property of a mansion in the Loire valley. French campgrounds seem to be run like summer camp. This campground has a number of canvas tents and small cabins for rent, a pool with a waterside and lazy river, a spa, store, restaurant, bar, and kids camp activities during the day. We constantly see people walking by with baguettes or take out pizza boxes. At times it feels like were in England as it's spring break for the Brits and they are everywhere. I found out that you get fined 80 pounds per kid per week if you take them out of school in England...that would make our vacation pretty pricey!
Our treehouse is great. We feel like were up in the trees rather than in the campground below. There's a large deck which is great for breakfast in the trees and wine in the evening.
Next stop - we will be visiting some castles and staying with Rhian's friend Laurence and her family. Rhian stayed with Laurence's family for a year in 1990 and after much searching managed to re-connect with her long lost French buddy.
