Out and About Perth.
As mentioned before, Perth is pretty spread out and so it's difficult to get around by public transport. However, luckily, Jay, one of the guys we're staying with has been kind enough to take me and Chris to various places in and around Perth. These include several dams North of the City in the Perth Hills. I really liked this area, beautiful views across the city and very wooded. Stunning houses too and just a much more countryside feel to the place. Very relaxed living indeed. Other visits include, Sepentine Falls, Safety Bay, Penguin Island, The Sand Bar, and Wireless Hill. Wireless Hill is a lookout across the city. The Sand Bar sits south of the river and juts out under the shallow waters of the river enabling you to walk out into the river itself. However, the water is freezing! Penguin Island has to be one of my favourite places in Perth. A tiny island situated south of Perth in a town called Rockingham. A 10 minute ferry or a sizable walk across to the island (you are able to walk across when the tide is low due to the shallow waters and the sand becoming visible). Little Penguins (their actually name) inhabit the island in the wild. Around 10 are housed on the island due to an inability to look after themselves for various reasons, illness maybe be one for example. They are the smallest variety of penguins and have a very oily skin. Chubby and very cute also! We arrived in time for feeding and a splash around the pool. The island itself has several little bays sheltered with beaches and calm water to swim in. Next to Penguin Island sits Seal Island, home to a colony of seals.
