I arrived in Agnes Water yesterday evening, about 3 hours north of Hervey Bay. The town is teeny with pretty much just one road and a few houses and shops scattered about. Agnes Water is home to the town of 1770, named after Caption Cook landed on the corner of the land at that very time. Town of 1770 itself is even smaller. A small marina and about 2 houses in total, and a bar, of course. The hostel itself is lovely, very chilled out and probably the cleanest ive been in by far. Several of the guys that did my Fraser trip are also here as well as half of the people i took my Noosa canoe trip with so it's been a good reunion.
Agnes Water/Town 1770 is known for its many bikers. Therefore this afternoon i went on a scooteroo tour. Basically a 3 hour scooter/very small motorbike tour around the surrounding valley and down to 1770. The motorbikes were easy enough to ride but i was pretty wobbly at first and it took me a while to get my balance and feel confident. However, 10 minutes later i was zipping along and having a great time. We did about 60km in total and after the first 10 we had the option to go a little faster and overtake other people, brilliant going past all the lads that thought they were it! The bikes only really got to 80km but pretty good all the same. We drove to 1770 to watch the sunset by the marina which was a little disapointing due to the low cloud but a lovely way to end the day. The light had of course faded for the return journy so lights on. I was by this time near the front of the bikes, around 40 in total so the line of bikes and lights looked like christmas had come early!
