Onze reis naar Australie begon met 2 uur vertraging. 's Avonds om 7 uur lokale tijd worden we door de taxi afgezet bij de Northside caravan village in Brisbane. Het is er warm en, tot onze verbazing, is het al donker! We zetten onze tent op, eten wat, en gaan vroeg naar bed. De volgende ochtend gaan we eerst eens Brisbane verkennen. We nemen de bus naar het centrum en gaan op zoek naar het infocenter en internet. Naar uitvoerig onderzoek besluiten we een hippiecamper te huren voor de tijd dat we in Australie zijn. Een simpele camper met bloemen erop, best vrolijk. We nemen het ervan en gaan uit eten in de irish pub, en naar de film in de mooie Regent bios. Je raad het waarschijnlijk al, de film die we zagen is Australia. Tja, daar konden we toch niet aan ontkomen. Leuke film, maareh, ik denk niet dat we dat stuk van Australie gaan zien, dat ligt toch wel ver weg.

Op onze 2e dag in Brisbane bezoeken we het museum, het park op de south bank en de botanische tuin. Daarna gaan we op zoek naar onze camper. Vlak voor sluitingstijd vinden we het Apollo verhuurbedrijf en rijden we weg met een vrolijke hippiecamper. 26 Februari, onze 3e dag in Brisbane pakken we 's ochtends onze spullen, doen nog even wat boodschappen, en rijden naar het noorden.

Our adventure in Australia starts with a 2 hour delay at Christchurch. At 7PM we arrive at the campground in Brisbane. It is warm and, to our great surprise, dark!

We are tired, so we set up camp and go to bed early. The next morning we take the bus to downtown, our first look at an Australian city. The first thing we do is find the infocenter and internet. After going through all the options, we decide to rent a campervan for the 5 weeks that we are in Australia. Something simple with flowers, a happy hippiecamper. We decide to celebrate: we have diner at the irish pub and go to the movies at the beautifull Regent cinema. The movie: Australia. Well, we had to see it at some point ;) It's a nice movie, beautifull scenery. Unfortunately the movie is set in the far north, to far for us (perhaps next time.

On our 2nd day in Brisbane we go to the museum, the park on the South Bank and the botanical gardens. In the afternoon we go to pick up our campervan. It takes longer then we thought, and just before closing time we find the Apollo rental company and drive off in our happy hippiecamper. On February 26, our 3rd day in Brisbane, we pack our things, go to the supermarket, and drive north.
