Long weekend in Seattle was an eventful one!
Saturday I explored Redmond town centre for a bit, which was fun. A nice little outdoor shopping village. Also, they have a couple of places which make decent coffee, unlike most of America. We went to Bumbershoot for the afternoon. I saw Unearth, Anti-Flag and Nada Surf in the way of bands and otherwise amused myself with the market stalls, the skateboarding and watching a burlesque show. It was odd. But overall, a good afternoon. I also got a free hug from someone who was giving them away.
We went to went to Wild Waves theme park on Sunday. After I convince the others that a few spots of rain shouldn't be a deterrant. You'd think that living in Seattle, they would be used to going out in the rain. Anyway, the weather in Tacoma was lovely and Nick and I even braved the waterslides for a while. Having not been on a waterslide since there was one at the Ascot Vale Leisure Centre, theme park waterslides were a bit of a shock for me and apparently I could be heard squealing when sliding at one stage. Other rides were mixed between being fun and being unexpectedly violent such as a Mad-Mouse-type ride that left most of us with bruising and/or whiplash. We tried to get Nick to ride the Enchanted Railway but unfortunently there was a maximum height restriction. Kat and I felt a bit sick at the end of the day and Nick and I played Lego Star Wars for the evening. I also didn't really take into account the whole 'allergic to chlorine' thing and I'm on the itchy side today. But that should clear up in a couple of days.
Today was a public holiday so we had lunch with some of Nick and Kat's friends at a Japanese restaurant. I went against my instincts to buy a noodle soup, which I am currently obsessed with thanks to Sushi Sai near Melbourne Uni. The food was good, even though they served me about 10 minutes after everyone else, which always seems to happen to me when I'm starving. Nick and Kat seem to have many many Australian friends and approximately one American friend. Nick and I went kayaking in the afternoon on Lake Union. Very pleasant and we paddled across to the Space Needle and back. Also makes me feel like I've done SOME exercise whilst trying all the many crazy varieties of American junk food.
I'm off to Vancouver for a brief visit tomorrow so I really should get some sleep.
Love and hugs to Neptune and Bunni (even though they are in a foster home and probably won't be reading my blog for a while). Love to Sammy.
