Lets Go Truckin!
Its hot and humid in New Orleans, so we checked into a posh hotel with a sigh - ahhh air conditioning....
After perusing the delights of New Orleans at night, sampling some seafood and cocktails, we headed to the legendary Jazz Festival. Mellow. Loads of stages with all kinds of Blues, Jazz, Gospel, and Country Music. Smooth. We caught some of everything as well as some southern food including Po Boys, Boiled Crawfish, Rice and Peas and Pecan Pie! Nice.
HIghlights were old school blues dudes, Zap Mama and Steve Winwood playing in the sunset to a beered up and happy crowd. Cool.
A bit of major league trucking followed as we cross the continent. ON the way we took in 880 miles of Texas, and stopped to climb the 8,000ft Guadaloupe peak before breakfast (well OK before lunch). In training for Grand Canyon.
Also took in the Saguaro National Park - full of massive Cacti that look a bit like people, very strange place. And hot. Very hot.
Next stop Pheonix to watch the footie and hook up with Tim M - cheers for the beers in jacuzzi - could have done without the hangover though.
More trucking yet to come though as we have to make Palm Springs, CA, by tomorrow....
See you soon, Josh n Lou x
