Arrived in Oruru today after 3 hour bus journey from La Paz. We thought it would be a good idea to go out until 4am last night, and that we could sleep on the bus. We were wrong! Arrived in La Paz today, 30 Dec. Great journey from Peru to Bolivia by bus/boat. Probably some of the most beautiful scenery Ive ever seen. Lake Titicaca is the worlds highest navigable lake at over 3800m above sea level. Its just stunning, with deep blue water set against lovely mountains. Travelled down from Cusco (Peru) with 3 others (1 Brit, 1 Scot, 1 Holland). Got a room with 4 beds for 3 pounds 50 each in the centre of La Paz! We are looking forward to tomo...

Arrived in Cusco on 8 Dec after great trip around Galapagos. Spent a few days getting used to the altitude. Being out of breath whilst doing nothing is a strange sensation! Cusco is very pretty sourrounded by mountains and Inca ruins. Slightly annoying kids always trying to sell you something, from postcards, to paintings to finger puppets! Arrived in Quito after a very satisfactory journey from Belize (via Miami). American Airlines' incompetence got me a free night in a nice hotel - clean sheets, hot bath, free room service for 3 meals...all bliss when you're travelling! First stop on my own! Arrived in great hostal. Hostal Playa. I chose Playa for the diving in Cozumel which is awesome! Visibility great and very different from the flooded quarry in Leicestershire where I learnt. Saw turtles, shark, barracuda and lots more. My resolve not to date a Latino broke on the first day...!
