So we left Nanjing by air and now we are in the Hostel in Xi'an.Its quite nice but no hot water in the bathroom so i had a lovely shower, definatly woke me up abit!
Hopefully seeing the Terrcotta warriors tomorrow. The camera is still not loading photos onto this sight so definatly bought a crap camera!! fuming
Ok we have finally worked out the camera it takes ages loading but atleast its working!
Got picked up to go to the Terracotta Warriors there was a full bus this time so we didnt have to ourselves, met some really cool people all english though! one girl we met has been to sri lanka and been working in the elephant place my mum and ken went too and she told us all about it. we told her about beijing zoo and the elephants chained up there she was really shocked.
The Terracotta Warriors were built by the first Emperor (he was also responsible in building the Great Wall of China)he wanted them to protect him in the after life. they have only escavated 3 pits so far and still believe theres alot more to find.
Our tour guide was called kristine and she was really funny but without knowing it! she told us loads about the terracotta warriors then tested us! it was like being back at school! i won a prise and i dont think anyone on the bus liked me anymore (teachers pet!) also Kristine the tour guide supported Liverpool (good girl! our marc would love her!!!!) and we had to follow her around the museum with her holding a liverpool flag above her head.
We got to the Terracotta Warriors and we were swamped with people selling mini statues for $1 but i couldnt be arsed to haggle with them.
When we got in and went to the first pit and saw them all lined up i was blown away! you can see about 2000 soldiers and a few horses. when the pit was first found all the warriors were broken into pieces after the emperor died his enemys couldnt find where he was buried but found the warriors and smashed them all up. So the people who work they have had a really hard job putting them all back together but they have done an amazing job.
The Terracotta warriors was really good and the people who made them origanally had skill everyone of them are different like a real army.
we went down to the muslim quarter it was really interesting but we saw a few animals hanging up outside the butchers and they looked alot like dogs! also on some stalls you can buy furs which looked like a german shepard.
we booked ourselves on a panda tour it sounded like a reserch centre but when we got there it was just about as bad as Beijing Zoo! we watched a man feed a panda and when it wouldnt do stuff for the food he kept on poking it with a stick! i also stroked a pandas paw when it came right over to the bars which was ok but i felt really sorry for it in its concrete cage. i thought we would see them all in the open.
we are flying from here to Guangzhou pronounced Guang-joe then getting a bus or train to hong kong
