G'Day from South Australia's Capital City Adelaide.
Well we left Melbourne on Saturday morning probably the roughest we have been since our leaving night back in Inver near enough 2years ago lol. Had 3hours sleep on the Friday night before our 10hour train journey from Melbs to Adelaide.
Train journey to be fair wasn't to bad and had comfy seats so managed to nap most of the way. We Arrived in Adelaide at 6pm and got picked up from station by Hostel pick up service. Checked into our first hostel of the travels and a 12bed mixed dorm. Adelaide is so quiet that even the Coles Supermarket here closes at 5pm on a Saturday!!! There was a smaller IGA open though so we grabbed some ready pasta and headed back to eat it and get an early night.
Following day got up early and went out to check out what Adelaide had to offer....which was nothing lol. City was near enough empty and had absolutley nothing happenning. We just wandered around the city for a few hours taking in the Botanical Gardens which weren't up to much and walking along the river. Lunch time we took the only tram to Glenelg beach which was more happenning and alot busier.
In Glenelg we had our packed sandwich lunch (Backpacker life kicking in) and just wandered along the promenade. We found a fairly busy, big peice of grass where we bought a 6pack of ciders and just took in a few hours of the glorious sunshine. That night made Burritos for tea and watched The Avengers which the Hostel was showing on their big screen.
Following day were up quite early and went out to check out Haighs Chocolate Factory. The Factory had a free tour which was very good to see, alot better than the Cadbury one in Hobart. Was alot more expensive chocolate however due to the fact absolutley everything is hand-made and hand-wrapped. Some free chocos were handed out but we still couldn't resist buying a truffle each as they were delicous. Rest of our last day was spent chilling in Hostel doing all our bits and pieces lol. We have a overnight bus tonight to Coober Peedy 10hours drive North of Adelaide which arrives at 5:15am tomorrow morning then have another 10 hour bus up to Alice Springs leaving at 5:50am so should be a fun bus trip.... :-/ !!!
Adelaide has been very quiet, good to see still but glad to be leaving. Cant believe Joel managed to live here for 3years, i had just about had enough after 3hours haha... Mind You he is Pakistani!
Anyhoo See Ya Adelaide, Next Stop the Outback and Abo (Aboriginal) Country!
