We are now in Vang Vieng!!
Although we ended up staying 5 nights here, there is really not much to tell. It may be due to the fact that a lot of alcohol was consumed and there were a couple of days spent hungover in bed haha.
The first day we arrived we planned to go tubing but it was rainy and overcast so we put it off until the following day. Luckily when we woke up it was beautiful sunshine so we set off to get our tubes for a full day of tubing down the river.
You hire out your yellow tube for the day and then a tuk tuk takes you about 4km and then you have to float down the river for 4km to get back, stopping at as many bars on the way as you can. When we arrived, before we even had a chance to get in our tube we were pulled into the first bar and fed some whiskey shots at 10.30am haha. Good start to the day.
The river was amazing, it was really calm so you were just slowly drifting along and you were surrounded by massive limestone mountains that were so beautiful. We stopped at the next bar and banged into a group of guys and girls that we shared a minibus journey with so we ended up spending the remainder of the day with them.
At each bar there were rope swings that were about 20ft high where you would jump off and swing across the river and then let go, dropping down into the water. J decided to give it a go and loved it, after that he was up every couple of minutes haha. He managed to persuade Shay to give it a go, well lets just say she didn't feel the same about it, after thinking she broke her rib falling into the water, there was no chance she would be giving it another go lol.
After several vodka buckets and whiskey shots it was 6pm and starting to get dark so we had to return our tubes and decided to go get showered and head out. I don't think either of us realised that maybe we had drank a little bit too much and getting ready to go out again ended up with both of us falling asleep as soon as we got in lol. All round a very good day tubing, so much fun.
The next day was spent in a nearby restaurant where they have pretty much beds with beanbags and they show friends episodes all day long. Shay has now converted J into a lover of friends, so she is very happy. We must have sat there for about 5 hours watching it all day, it cured our hangover :)
Our last day in Vang Vieng was pretty chilled out. At night we went out to watch the Man United game and had a couple of drinks, meeting some more of the guys we had seen on the bus before and ended up having a really good night.
Our time in Vang Vieng was amazing, we both loved it. The tubing was so good and well worth the trip there. Now we are off to our last stop of Laos....Vientiane.
