After a 14 hour bus journey we arrived in Mendoza. The first thing we noticed was ho much quieter it was then Buenos Aires and we were happy that we would be given the chance to relax. The first afternoon, we visited a market in the main square and had lunch at a lovely cafe. Our first trip was Horse Riding. We got picked up at 9am and drove for a couple of hours until we got to the stables. We were all assigned a horse. Carley was petrified to get on the horse at first but once she relaxed and got into it she started to enjoy it. Jonny loved it straight away and looked like a real cowboy. The trek lasted 2 hours. We seen some amazing scenery and were so close to the Andes mountains. At one point the guide told u s that it was -2 degrees and we were all freeing. We couldn't feel our feet and we were relieved to see the stables and get off the horse. We were in a lot of pain but very glad we done it. The next day when we woke up we were in agony!!!!! The other trip we arranged to go on was wine tasting. The first stop was a modern winery. Here we were shown how the wine is made and where it was stored. We were also shown where the wine was bottles and how this was done. Then for the fun part, the tasting. We were given a white and red wine to taste. The red wine was Malbec, which is a famous wine in Argentina. We both preferred the white. We liked it so much that we bought a bottle to have with our dinner that night. The next stop was an Olive Oil factory. We didn't find this as interesting as the Winery but was sill good to see where and how the oil is made and we got to try some at the end which was nice. The final stop was a older Winery. Here we were again shown where the wine was made etc. When it came to tasting we were shown how to tell a good wine from a bad one and how to taste it properly. We had a lovely day and a great time in Mendoza. Next stop Chile, and an 8 hour bus ride through the Andes to get there.
