We arrived in Pakse in preperation for our next morning flight across the inaccesible land to Siem Reap, Cambodia.
This town felt not much dissimilar to the Laos capital, many travellers pass through to get to Four Thousand Islands, which we didn't have the time to explore unfortunetaly.
That night before the flight we experienced the most dramatic and exciting thunderstorm I have ever experienced, lightening stuck the town many times and I swear the thunder was shaking the old colonial hotel. We checked into a budget hotel at 32'000 kip (2 pounds) for the room. It had no glazed windows, only bars and french shutters! The wind blew open the shutters all night and the rain was driving in and I got soaked to the bone all night, was quite unpleasant. Of course mr Tarry slept through the whole damn thing!!!!
