Wow.... we really lived the high life today. Hopped on a bus to Halong Bay to start our adventure. We boarded a private boat that had linen table cloths and proper napkins and set sail along the bay where we could see lots of little boats and beautiful views. Jon was busy taking lots of pictures and I was busy eating the seafood lunch we had on board. Fresh squid, big prawns (I didn't look at their eyes although Jon checked their poo line!) spring rolls, snapper fish, chilled white wine. Potentially one of my favourite places and meals so far! We sailed for about an hour and then docked at tourist central to go into a cave. It was interesting but pretty cave like. I'm afriad I didn't listen hard enough to the guide to be able to tell you about the stalagmite (is that even spelt right?!) formations etc but I'm sure Jon can fill you in when we get home! We then hopped back on the boat and sailed a little further where we dropped anchor, stripped off our clothes and jumped off the side of the boat into the sea. It was a little colder than I expected but so much fun. Jon wisely stayed on the boat and admired the cold sea from a distance.
Arrived on Cat Ba Island and explored a little. There is a harbour here where all the fish are collected and cooked fresh. You can smell the hot air mixed with the sea and it is amazing. Jon has gone Kayaking today (I told him to wear a life jacket) and is yet to return so I will keep you all updated on that. As for me, i'm just off to the beach for the afternoon.... it's a hard life.
