Today i arrived at jambiani the coastal village in southern Tanzania. it is very nice my room is literally on the beach.
Anyway to start the day i await in my hotel reception for my transfer to jambiani, i was instructed to be there at 7:00am sharp otherwise it will leave with out me. 2 hours later the transfer arrived! Was very hard to explain to the receptionist who was fluent in nothing by swahili, that my transfer hadnt arrived, luckily it eventually did! Today hadnt started brilliantly!
after what felt like an eternity i arrived at Grand bungalows in jambiani. The project is ran by Impact Africa who run many projects like this is africa however i have been told that this is the best one and thats by the manager for all of the projects in east africa!
I was greeted by the first english person i had seen or spoken to since leaving heathrow! I was starting to get tired of my own voice!
After settling into the what is easily the best location is have been to in the world! Both Alex and i ( another volunteer who started on the same day) had our initial induction and i started to get the feel that after all the stress of pre tanzania and getting here it was definatly worth it!
Later i met the other volunteers currently at the project there are 9 others in total all very nice people of a variety of differnt nationalities from Swiss to australian.
Later in the afternoon i met a small amount of students who where attending extra english classes ran by the project. These students had just come from a french lesson and would be going onto a german lesson from us, they are so eager to learn its unreal! This time i was just watching the class to get a feel of what i will be envolved with in the coming days! Later i learn that i will be required to plan lessons and put together lesson plans, now i can do a plan for 1 * field craft but im not to sure of basic grammar! Im sure it will be fine!
I also got my first taste of the food... well it was an experience lets put it that way! You all know im a fussy so and so however i was relatviely surprised when they surved pizza, not only pizza but pizza with Banana! on it. Surprisingly nice! Dinner was a beef dish and actually it was surprisingly nice... yes i really said that!
Now off to the bar to relax and chill for the evening! All is good here in zanzibar!
PS im having difficulty getting pictures up hence the lack of them but ill upload as soon as i can!
