We have now left the Tarn Valley and have headed north towards Calais and home.
The drive through the Massif, the Cevennes, was wonderful if somewhat clouded by...cloud. What is quite striking is that for some of the journey we were driving at someting like 3500 feet of more. This is impossible (?) in the UK. The scenery changes between about 700 meters and 1000 meters is notable.
At about 700-800 meters it really looks like England, with rollong fields and deciduous woodlands, grazing cows and hay being cut. By 1000 meters the trees are now spruce and rather more sparse and the vegetation has a duller shade.
The road, an autoroute, was a series of up and down hills making for slow progress.
We have now reached the Loire and what looks like another good campsite. Frequented by many one nighters going north or south turnover is rapid but it does have the look of a place worth investigating.
Tomorrow we head towards Rouen before the fianl short drive to Dunkirk on Friday.
