Ok so im still in Sydney however not board of it yet. Had a wicked time at the opera house watching the Jazz. They also did a mix of other things aswell as Mr Jazz hands like opera songs from phantom of the opera and time to say goodbye and from My fare lady, it was ace. I put my nicest dress on so I didnt feel like an out of place scruffy backpacker. I mean how many people can say they have been to the sydney Opera house and seen a performance....I have! We then had a day at manly which is a nice little town with a beach a short ferry ride away from sydney. It was also Mandy's Birthday so we went round to there hostel and cooked up some Kangaroo steaks, which I will add were very tasty! We had some drinks then went out to a club to carry on a very drunken night.
The next morning was a lazy day of sorting random travel plans, there seems to always be something on a to do list that has to be done and sorted when traveling. The evening we went for a walk over the harbour bridge to check out the city by night. The veiws as we strolled over were lovely and the city and opera house looked amazing. An early night was then needed in preparation for a long day at the blue mountains the next morning. Me and Rachel got on the train for a 2hr journey to this stunning area of Oz. We hopped of the train at a stop before the main gateway to the blue mountain national park called Wentworth Falls. After an hour and half walk in the baking heat of the day we reached the falls which did at first seem a bit of a let down as we were met by a small waterfall. Walking slightly further we were then hit by the magnificant veiws of the blue mountains park and could see how the waterfall tumbeled over the mountain side. Words cant realy describe the veiw, as far as the eye could see was forest with cliff edges that looked like somebody had just cut out a peice of the land. The Blue mountains are named this as apparantly the trees of the vast forest give of a gas of some sort that create this hazzy blue appearance over the land. That what I was told anyway, whether there is truth behind it?? We then hurried back to the train station to hop on the train to the major town of Katoomba in which you can access the sight of the three sisters. This is a rock formation of three pillars that self explanitary represent the tree sisters. We were ging to ride the steepest railway in the world from the top of the park to the base of the forest area however by the time we got there which was quite late after all the walking the que was massive and we were running out of time for the train home so we gave it a miss. It was a very tiring but worth while day. i think the area is so big that more that a day is needed to fully explore and appriciate what there is in this stunning landscape.
The next day was NY eve of course and we made a picknick to take to the park the other side of the bridge. We arrive there late afternoon to a mass of people. Some people arrive in the early hours and even camp overnight to get a good spot to see the fireworks. The spot that we had was pretty good and fireworks were set off at 9.00pm which we could see clearly. The weather was perfect but very hot, nearly in the 30's. Leading up to midnight we made our way to the edge of the water to get an even better veiw and it was amazing. i think I just kept repeating over and over "this is so cool" as the firworks exploded over the harbour and off the Bridge. A memory that will stay for long time and a celebration with a realy good group of people. It was however a long walk home as the buses were chocker block full and we arrived back at the hostel at 4am. Needless to say we had a lazy day lying in the sun on Bondi beach on NY day and that evening we headed out for some grub as a last night farewell as unfortunatly I leave in the next day to head onto Melbourne. Its horrible as I leave all these good friends that i have made as we all go our seperate ways. I will miss Mandi and Julian and Dom and Emma and Charlie and most of all Rachel who I have traveled half the east coast with. Hopefully she will follow through with the plans to meet me in Asia and we can pick up further travels and memories together.
A happy New Year to everbody at home and best wishes, love lots xxxx
