The lay day then the escape to Santorini
Yesterday was a lay day were held up in Mykonos because ferry delayed by bad weather so no Santorini. We had rush around get all the thing in Shirley’s tour list , and this island ain’t all that big, nice, but once around that’s it. We took another trip to main town , change our ferry ticket to the next day travel, looked in shops, had really good calamari, a wine at anew place, tradition upheld. From here we went home and sat at the new pool that we had to move to because of the ferry debacle, so that made up for it a bit but is costing more every cancellation.
Awoke this morning, blowing a gale, pissing down rain , we are thinking, here we go again , we just about to book for another night when I said “I just ask the desk once more ,” low and behold we off to Santorini.
The boat arrives and it feels like last one n is a rotten , people flew out of waiting room , I’m talk hundreds of people, to the ferry ramp , the crew couldn’t have coped and then to make matters worst the heavens open ,with even heavier rain and winds , there was no turning back as we were trapped between the shore and the deep blue sea ,we were drenched with two hour ferry ride in front of us
We worked out what to do then sat back and caught up on some well deserved shut eye, with the rain , the cloud and all the hot bodies photo were a non event.
2.5 hours later we arrived the weather was slightly better . The pickup man had gone missing, it’s the first time when Shirley’s actually made that arrangement it didn’t happen. We get a ,mini bus with other people and on top of this monstrous hill it stops and there is this framed gateway, this is us, spectacular view hit us right between the eyes, Shirley has done it again . The cliff are scattered with white square shaped building right along the cliff edges ,picture will help here. The sunset is really beautiful from our balcony .
We went out to visit the town after Shirley had a relaxing massage it’s name was Fira, not much to it, but had a very good authentic Santorini meal. That’s all I’ve got to say about that.
Tomorrow’s another and more adventure are sure to come from it . Well done the Roosters.
Love you all, only nine days to go.
John and Shirley
