We awoke to church bells this morning. After getting ready and having breakfast we went out for one last little walk before we had to check out of the hotel. It was a beautiful day in Venice, the sun was defiantly out heating up the venetian streets. Stopping in a little shop we found a bottle of our favorite Italian wine; raboso. Probably not a strong chance it will make it back home with us, but it's possible. After checking out of the hotel and hopping on the water taxi, where we got a talking to by the locals for all the bags we were tugging with us and were asked to move about three times, we arrived at the Piazzale Roma.
We hurried over to the People Mover and on the way a child stopped in front of Kim and she stepped on him and made him cry. His parents should have taught him better than to just stop in the middle of the sidewalk when there grown ass people walking with big ass bags. At the People Mover we saw a lot of confused people and were so very thankful we had prepared ourselves for this journey. There was an old man with a little cowboy hat on who was obviously confused by how it worked as instead of buying a ticket to open the little gates you had to get through he just crawled under them. It would have been easier for him to spend the $1 I think as he was not able to stand up right away. He was probably just a rebel who never plays by anyone else's rules but his own. Kudos to you old man!
As we walked forever in the sun to get from the People Mover to the check in at the boat my back pretty much became the 8th ancient sea and I could almost hear pirates singing songs about it over rum, which reminds me I have to pick up a bottle of the Havana Club rum I saw at the duty free. According to the boss playa Valentine who cut my hair before the wedding it's the best rum you can get, but it's not sold in the states.
We got all checked in at the cruise ship, which was totally painless, and went aboard. It's nice to be around people who at least act like they are happy to see you. It really does make a difference. Customer service b****es, learn about it!
We got a mojito and some lunch and another mojito and sat by the pool. We obviously were not prepared for this as we had to check all our bags but one and we didn't even think to pack our swimgear. We'll have to remember to do that on the next cruise as you have to wait a while before being able to get into your room where your bags are waiting for you.
After killing time with drinks and exploring the boat we went to our room to unpack. Our room is pretty awesome for being so small. The bed is the best so far on the trip! The bed in Prague was just okay. The bed in Venice was basically two cots pushed together. But this bed is amazing!! Can't wait to go to sleep!!!
After unpacking it was time to go to our safety orientation which was basically a half our presentation on putting on a life jacket. We both almost fell asleep during it. So after it was over we went for coffee and a snack by the pool. We thought it would be fun to take a dip, so we went and got changed into our suits, but by the time we were back poolside we were heading out of Venice. Our balcony just happened to be on the same side as Venice so we took the drinks we had ordered back down to our room for a venitian photo shoot from our balcony. We got some great pictures of the town as we rode the eff out!
This ship is pretty dope, even with the technicolored flooring. It's weird but even after the week of being on vacation this finally feels like the start. I think it's partly because it's more like what we are used to a vacation being, and also it's a lot less work. There's no hurry up and go anymore. Our bags are unpacked and we finally get to relax.
We went to one of the restaurants that we don't have to pay to get in for dinner. It was a great meal, definitely going back there. It doesn't get much better than free lobster!! There is a place on the boat we are planning to go to that you do have to pay a cover charge, but once you are in you get unlimited sushi! I love this place!!
Tomorrow we dock in Croatia and get to spend a few hours in Dubrovnik! Can't wait!!!! This will be the third country of the trip!
