Our journey across the border from Ecuador in to Peru was relatively straight forward; the only thing we had to contend with was the tedium of hours on a bus. We managed to make it to Mancora just as sunset was upon us. Mancora is a small town in northern Peru on the Pacific coast with a fairly relaxed atmosphere and a picturesque beach. On arrival we checked out a few accommodation options and finally settled on a real gem which had a swimming pool and was only a minute or so from the beach and the main town. On the first night we headed out to a local restaurant which had a great set menu deal and an even better deal of 4 large beers for 10 soles. After dinner we wandered up and down the strip for a little while before heading to bed with the aim of making the most of the next day. The following morning we awoke relatively early and headed out for a beach front breakfast, whilst the food wasn't particularly exciting the setting more than made up for it. After breakfast we headed back to the hostel where we got in to our bathing suits and spent most of our day relaxing by the pool, only really moving to go out for a late lunch. It was great to spend the day doing little else other than swimming, reading, and relaxing. We decided late in the afternoon that we were spoiling ourselves too much so took the decision to book a bus out of town to Chiclayo the next day where we would have the opportunity to view ruins of the ancient Chimu civilisation. In the evening we again met with Glen and Steve to watch the sunset before headingout for dinner on our last in Mancora. Glen and Steve were staying on in Mancora a little longer than us so that evening said our goodbyes and exchanged contact details before heading off to bed at a sensible time considering we had an early bus the next morning to Chiclayo.
